Rank Advancement Opportunities

Rank advancement is a fundamental part of Boy Scouting. You can see the rank requirements here.

Troop 261 provides Scouts with opportunities to work on the requirements for rank advancement. These include classes at regular troop meetings, campouts, service projects and other events. See the calendar of events for upcoming opportunities.

The process for advancement can be a little confusing at first. Reading the troop's Advancement Practices can help eliminate the confusion.

Merit Badge Counselors

A major part of rank advancement is earning Merit Badges. Merit Badges are earned under the guidance of a Merit Badge Counselor.  Scouts should contact the advancement chairperson (listed in the troop adult roster) or review the list of Merit Badge Counselors to locate a counselor for a particular Merit Badge.

A list of Merit Badges and their requirements can be found on: http://www.meritbadge.com
